Ashiatsu

What is Ashiatsu?

The ancient Japanese art & therapeutic practice of barefoot massage; "ashi" (foot) & " atsu" (pressure). Barefoot massage is typically performed on a massage table with overhead parallel bars to ensure stability and precision of strokes. Swedish style relaxation or deep tissue techniques can be achieved using the feet as would with hands.

Why Ashiatsu vs Hands?

The gliding strokes of Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage Therapy offers the experience of incredibly consistent pressure. The therapist is able to use the broad, rounded surfaces of their feet to administer greater pressure without the residual pain that clients often report following a traditional deep tissue massage. Ashiatsu can be extremely effective in the treatment of most soft tissue complaints; including chronic low back pain, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, repetitive strain injuries, stress relief and relaxation.
